Liverpool are only Premier League team not to have dropped points when winning

The importance of Liverpool starting quickly against Nottingham Forest has become obvious with the emergence of three surprising stats.

One of the issues leading to Liverpool’s poor run of results has been their tendency to let the opposition play their own game early on.

As per reporter Mo Stewart, only once in 17 games have Liverpool scored in the first 30 minutes this season, compared to 22 times in the league alone last season.

The statistics show Liverpool haven’t been able to recover from those slow starts either.

The Reds go into this weekend’s fixtures as one of four teams not to have picked up a point from a losing position so far this season.

However, Slot’s side are the only Premier League outfit not to drop any points from winning positions this campaign.

Liverpool landmarks vs. Nottingham Forest

Mo Salah could play his 300th league game for Liverpool. He has 188 goals for the club in the competition.

One goal or assist for Salah will see him set a new outright Premier League record for most goals and assists for a single club in the competition. He is currently on 276 with Wayne Rooney.

Ryan Gravenberch could make his 100th appearance for Liverpool in all competitions.

Arne Slot will take charge of Liverpool for the 50th time in the Premier League. He has won 31 of his opening 49 matches, with nine draws and nine defeats.

No Liverpool manager in history has won more times in his opening half-century of league matches.

Stopping Liverpool from scoring

Liverpool’s 0-0 last season against Forest was the first time since 1993 that they had failed to score against them at Anfield.

That game produced a goalless draw, the only such result between the teams since April 1981.

Last time out, Man City became only the second team – the first since Forest in September 2024 – to prevent Liverpool from scoring in a league game under Slot, a run of 44 games.

Liverpool have lost five of their last six top-flight games, as many as they had lost in the previous 49 in the league.

The Reds are the only team in the top five divisions of English football not to draw a league game this season, with six wins and five defeats.
