Goalkeeper wants Chelsea exit

Goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen wants to leave Chelsea and he is set to submit a formal transfer request to the club.

The Dane was signed in the summer of 2024, and was one of Enzo Maresca’s first signings. And, although the 23-year old described the move to Stamford Bridge at the time as a “dream” it has soon become a nightmare, as he has become increasingly frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities. He has made seven league appearances in two years, and is clearly behind Robert Sanchez in the pecking order, whilst Chelsea continue to be linked with names like Mike Maignan.

Jorgensen also has ambitions to go to the World Cup next summer, although Denmark will now have to qualify via the playoffs after losing out to Scotland in their group.

The ₤21 million signing agreed a seven year deal when he signed for Chelsea, so they are under no obligation to let him go, and they may want to source a replacement first.
