'My information...' - Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool make initial contact for 'world-class'…

Liverpool have made initial contact regarding a potential move for Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo, GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

The reigning Premier League champions have gathered information on the structure of the Ghanaian winger’s release clause, standing at £65m, as well as its potential payment terms.

Arne Slot’s side are attentive to Semenyo’s situation ahead of the January transfer window as they look to bolster their star-studded squad with another big-money signing.

Interest in Semenyo is significant among Premier League clubs, with Manchester City and Tottenham among those tracking the highly-regarded 25-year-old forward.

Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, revealed that Liverpool are paying close attention to Semenyo ahead of the January transfer window and are ‘very interested’ in the forward:

“My information is that Liverpool are very interested in this situation. Because my understanding is that Liverpool have already taken some information on the structure of the release clause, as I told you £60m plus £5m in add-ons.

“But Liverpool also wanted to be informed on, for example, the structure in terms of payment of the release clause. So Liverpool are attentive.”

Semenyo, who joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in January 2023, only penned a new five-year deal with the Cherries this summer, keeping him at the club until 2030.

The 'world-class' Ghanaian winger has been in electric form this season, scoring six goals and providing three assists in 11 Premier League appearances.

He ranks joint-third among the division’s top scorers, only behind Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Brentford’s Igor Thiago, and is joint-fourth in assists.

Semenyo’s departure in January would represent another big-money sale for Bournemouth in the past six months, with the Cherries parting ways with defenders Illia Zabarnyi, Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez for a combined £147m this summer.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have overseen an unprecedented summer of spending, splashing out £415m on new arrivals, including Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.

The Anfield side have struggled at the start of the season, winning just six of their first 11 league games, and are eighth in the table heading into Saturday’s home clash with Nottingham Forest.

Liverpool have only won three of their last 10 games in all competitions and are currently trailing Premier League leaders Arsenal by eight points.
