Report: AZ Alkmaar inform Everton of their asking price for Troy Parrott ahead of January

Everton’s search for a new striker in January has led them to assessing Troy Parrott as a potential option.

David Moyes would have hoped signing Thierno Barry over the summer would have put his striker issues behind him.

However, Everton already find themselves struggling to find the back of the net consistently, with Beto and Barry failing to hit the ground running this season.

As a result, Everton News was able to reveal that Everton had their scouts watching Parrott in action for the Republic of Ireland vs Portugal.

In fact, the Toffees have been watching Parrott all season, with the Ireland international ripping it up for AZ Alkmaar in the Eredivisie.

The January window is just weeks away from opening now and the Dutch side have now set out their stall over a potential sale of their 23-year-old talent.

What AZ Alkmaar are demanding for Everton to sign Troy Parrott

On Friday, Everton News revealed that AZ would consider the sale of Parrott in January, but there will be no bargain deal to be had.

After all, this is one of the most in-form strikers across Europe, having netted 13 goals in his 14 appearances for the Dutch side this term.

According to GiveMeSport, AZ have set their stall out with an asking price of around €35m (£31m) for the 23-year-old striker.

Is Troy Parrott the perfect January signing for Everton?

The report does also note interest coming from Everton’s Premier League rivals West Ham United and Fulham.

Sources are believed to have shared AZ’s relaxed stance over Parrott’s future, with the striker still under contract until 2029 in the Netherlands.

Former Everton midfielder Kevin Kilbane is expecting a lot of interest in Parrott from the Premier League, with a potential return to England a real possibility.

Parrott’s time at Tottenham Hotspur did not take off, but he is certainly showing his potential in the Eredivisie with AZ.

The Friedkins need to dig deep to buy Parrott

Interestingly, The Friedkin Group have injected around £107m into Everton earlier this week, which comes just weeks out from the January window.

It remains unclear what the purpose of that cash injection actually is, but fans will be hoping to see more signings arrive in January.

Do you want to see Richarlison return to Everton?

Everton News columnist Alan Myers is expecting Everton to sign a new striker when the window does open.

However, there will have to be some careful consideration over whether the Toffees will actually move for Parrott.

Everton have already seen how Barry has struggled making the move over from another league, and another big-money striker signing would not go down well if Parrott was also to struggle.
