Arsenal Are‘Interested’In£70M Rated French‘Jewel’Whose Arrival Would Spell The End Of Martinelli

Arsenal are keeping an eye on Eintracht Frankfurt forward Jean-Matteo Bahoya, according to reports in the German media.

Sport1 claim that the 20-year-old is “pushing for a bigger role”, having been in and out of Dino Toppmoller’s starting eleven this season.

Frankfurt would be reluctant sellers but they don’t want to keep an unsettled player, and it is believed that sporting director Markus Krosche hasn’t completely ruled out the sale of the “offensive jewel”.

Sport1 report that the Gunners are “interested”, although they are one of many teams monitoring the France Under 21 international.

How much would Bahoya cost?

Frankfurt received an offer worth €70m (£62m) from Saudi Arabia in the summer, so a fee below that amount won’t be accepted.

The Bundesliga side are also in a strong position financially, having sold the likes of Omar Marmoush (to Manchester City) and Hugo Ekitike (to Liverpool) for sizeable sums over the past 12 months.

It is believed that it would take around €80m (£70m) for Frankfurt to consider offloading Bahoya either in January or at the end of the season.

Arsenal have been tracking the player for years

The Gunners were first linked with Bahoya at the start of 2024 when he was at Angers. He joined Frankfurt soon after the interest from Mikel Arteta’s side became known.

It appears as if Gunners scouts have been keeping close tabs on the Frenchman’s progress since then, and his availability seems to have piqued their interest once again.

Bahoya can play right across the front three or even as a no.10, but he is most often deployed on the left wing, where he can cut in onto his stronger right foot. His arrival would probably spell the end of Gabriel Martinelli. It was reported earlier this week that the Brazilian could be sold for the right price in a future transfer window.
