The Buffalo Bills have received a timely boost for their new $2.2 billion stadium, receiving a $245 million cash injection from the 2026 season ticket sales, with franchise quarterback Josh Allen in awe ahead of next year's move.

The Bills will leave their longtime home after 52 years next year, moving into the newly built Highmark Stadium and closing the door on one of the NFL's longest-running stadium tenures. Construction of the new venue stalled in March 2025 after the projected price tag ballooned to $2.2BN.

The spike prompted the Bills to request an increase in the NFL's team debt limit, enabling the franchise to secure an additional $800 million in financing. However, that debt has already received a timely boost, with the Bills raising $245M through the sale of season tickets for the 2026 regular season, according to Buffalo News.

The Bills smashed their target, exceeding it by a cool $20M, and the stadium is already impressing the franchise's star player, Allen, who visited in the midst of the 2025 campaign.

Allen stepped inside the 60,108-seater stadium, which has been bolstered by $850M of taxpayer money.

"Which blows my mind, because the amount of work that's been done over the last two years, but still has to be done is crazy," Allen said in a clip shared to TikTok.

"Score a touchdown, big game, go make our way to the beer garden after. Not too bad, Mr. [Terry] Pegula, not too bad," Allen added. The Bills are 7-4 in 2025, but trail behind the 9-2 New England Patriots in their respective AFC division.

The Bills have suffered defeats to the Patriots, Atlanta Falcons, Miami Dolphins, and the Houston Texans on this week's Thursday Night Football. This season has been viewed as one in which the Bills can assert dominance over the AFC, with the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens faltering in the first half of the regular season.

Allen ate 12 hits and a career-high eight sacks in the 23-19 defeat to the Texans. Head coach Sean McDermott says his offense needs to do a better job at protecting Allen going forward.

"They had 12 hits on Josh, eight sacks. That's not a healthy formula right there," McDermott said. "It's not a healthy way to play or a healthy way to keep our quarterback healthy through the remainder of the season."

"That's where the hits come, second down and long turns into third down and long, and that's the unhealthy formula I'm talking about, and Josh takes too many hits. So we've got to figure that piece out," McDermott added.

Allen also admitted that taking so many sacks in a single game wasn't fun, but he took responsibility. "It's not fun. I ran into a couple myself," Allen said.

Allen also threw two interceptions. "I have to be better with throwing the ball away, living to see another down, letting us play some situational football, and pinning them deep. Too many times, I was going backwards, and I have to be better on that," he continued.
