FC Barcelona lost one of their main defensive pillars from their highly successful last season as Inigo Martinez departed the Blaugrana club to join the Saudi side Al-Nassr.
The Spaniard’s departure has left a clear vacuum in the Catalan team’s defence, as he was not only the leader of the backline but also the only left-footed center-back in the team.
As a result, Barcelona have been linked with several defenders in the market to replace Martinez, [and one notable name with whom they have been linked is the Crystal Palace center-back Marc Guehi](https://semprebarca.com/barcelona-will-only-pursue-25-year-old-english-player-set-to-become-free-agent-next-summer-if-terms-remain-reasonable-report/), who has already made it clear that he will not be renewing his contract, which is set to expire this coming summer.
However, according to [SPORT](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/barca-atento-guehi-salir-enero-123991629), the Premier League side could opt to sell the Englishman right in the upcoming winter market to avoid losing him for free. In fact, the Crystal Palace coach Oliver Glasner did not rule out such a possibility in a recent presser. Talking about Guehi, the coach said:
**“I don’t know, it will be the club’s decision. Marc shows every week that he is 100% committed to Crystal Palace.”**
While Glasner didn’t completely rule it out, he said now is not the right time to think about it.
**“We have 15 matches until January 10, and it doesn’t make sense for him to be thinking about a potential sale. Of course, we are prepared for everything, but I don’t know what will happen.”**
For now, it remains to be seen how Marc Guehi’s future will pan out, with several big European clubs, including Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, etc., interested in him, and where he will be playing next season, or even in the second half of this season.
