'90s Country Star Travis Tritt Reveals Hilarious Story About His Iconic Super Bowl Guitar

Country legend Travis Tritt is talking candidly about the purchase of the guitar he used at the Super Bowl Halftime Show back in 1994.

The unforgettable performance took place during the 28th Super Bowl alongside other '90s country superstars, Tanya Tucker, Clint Black, and The Judds. Sporting his trademark long hair, Tritt wore a light blue leather jacket with long fringe for the performance and took the stage with a black electric guitar with 'Harley Davidson' displayed across the front.

During a conversation with country music Podcast host, Dillon Weldon, Tritt reminisces about the guitar, which he fondly describes as a 90th Anniversary Harley Davidson Stratocaster. "It's made out of metal," Tritt explains.

The guitar caught Tritt's eye while browsing a music store, and was being sold for a lot more than the other guitars in the shop. "Don't buy that thing," the star was told by friend and fellow country music artist, Marty Stuart. "That thing is a piece of crap, and it's not gonna be worth anything," Tritt recalls Stuart's words of caution. Thankfully, Tritt didn't heed the advice.

The decision to purchase came easy for the star when he heard that Wynonna Judd was quite interested in the guitar as well. "It's sold," Tritt told the salesman, making sure to secure it before anyone else did.

"They didn't make a lot of 'em," Tritt recalls in the story. "6 months later... those guitars were selling for about 5 times what I paid for it," he boasts. His friend Marty Stuart's response? "Well... shows you what a dumbass I am," recalls the legend amidst laughter from him and host, Weldon.

It's nostalgic memories like this that make it obvious why Tritt has remained such a star for all these years. Fans are reacting to the clip of this interview, with positive vibes and rave reviews. "One of the absolute best to go watch live! HUGE fan!" one of the comments reads. "We need another county music Super Bowl show!" another chimes in.

With 14 studio albums and 9 Grammy nominations, Travis Tritt is known for his authentic southern rock style. Songs like "Best of Intentions," with classic country storytelling lyrics is a heartfelt ballad that has withstood the test of time. "A Great Day to be Alive," is another timeless singalong with its catchy chorus and country-twang guitar.

While we're not holding our breath for a future Super Bowl performance, Tritt continues to entertain through ongoing tours and appearances, including the '100 Years of Grand Ole Opry Celebration' last spring. And as his song "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" says, we sure are grateful that he's out there tryin' to make a living watching everybody else have fun.
