Romano Says Liverpool Have“Already”Made Enquiry About Player Richard Hughes Previously Signed 3 Years go

Liverpool have made an initial enquiry about signing Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said that the Reds wanted additional information about the conditions of the Ghanaian’s buyout clause:

“My information is that Liverpool are very interested in this situation. Because my understanding is that Liverpool have already taken some information on the structure of the release clause, as I told you £60m plus £5m in add-ons.”

“But Liverpool also wanted to be informed on, for example, the structure in terms of payment of the release clause. So Liverpool are attentive.”

Hughes could sign Semenyo for a 2nd time

Current Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes was in charge of Bournemouth’s recruitment when the Cherries paid Bristol City £10m for the winger near the end of the 2023 January transfer window.

Almost three years later, it seems as if the Reds’ transfer chief is now hoping to bring him to Anfield, following the recent enquiry about the player.

Liverpool will have competition for the forward

Manchester United and Tottenham were heavily linked with Semenyo in the summer before he decided to sign a new contract with Bournemouth.

It is not known whether United are still interested, but Spurs are reportedly hoping to revive their pursuit of the 25-year-old.

Manchester City have also been mentioned as a potential suitor, but there are doubts over whether they are prepared to stump up the cash for someone who won’t be guaranteed starts.

Although Semenyo is comfortable playing on either wing, he is usually deployed on the left flank, and Jeremy Doku has cemented his position as first choice in that position for City in recent weeks.

Arsenal and Chelsea, meanwhile, are both unlikely to table bids. The Gunners have issues with PSR, while the Blues have four wingers already.
