Liverpool are experiencing something of a crisis at right-back this month, and Joe Gomez could now be called upon to fill the void.
Trent Alexander-Arnold left for Real Madrid earlier this year after excelling on the right of the Reds’ back four for many years.
Jeremie Frimpong was signed as his replacement, but injury and fitness issues mean he has hardly played this season.

Instead, Conor Bradley has been earning mixed reviews after being thrust into a starting role by Arne Slot of late.
However, Bradley is now injured and is expected to miss a number of matches, leaving Liverpool without a natural right-back option.

We have now taken a look at how Liverpool fare when Gomez is given the nod at right-back versus other players such as Bradley and Trent.

Alexander-Arnold, as expected, has a better win percentage, securing victories in 67.0% of the games he played as a full-back.
Bradley has the worst record (64%), but that makes sense as many of those outings have come in 2025/26 when Liverpool have struggled for results.
During Gomez’s time at Anfield, Nathaniel Clyne has been the worst-performing right-back to make more than 10 appearances (50.5%).

When is Jeremie Frimpong back from injury
While Gomez can be a competent option at right-back, fans are probably eager to see Frimpong finally get a proper run in the eleven.
He has missed Liverpool’s last five matches across all competitions with a hamstring problem, and an exact timeframe for his return is yet to be provided.
Slot gave a Frimpong injury update prior to the Manchester City defeat earlier this month.
He said: “Alisson for sure. And I expect Jeremie back after the international break as well because we play from November until March!
“But I don’t expect Jeremie to be fully fit for [Nottingham] Forest. But with Alisson, we expect this, yes.”
