This I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! contestant was compelled to make a public apology after he was caught on camera singing an offensive chant. The ardent Manchester United supporter was unveiled as one of the 10 participants for the latest series of the ITV jungle show, following his rise to fame through online streaming.

His breakthrough into mainstream media came after a standout performance in the Sidemen charity match, leading to his Soccer Aid debut at Old Trafford - just months before being selected for I'm a Celeb alongside his good mate and rapper Aitch. Angry Ginge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, was known for filming himself at United games, but one particular clip sparked a significant backlash.

On his YouTube channel, the Baller League manager frequently shares videos of his adventures playing Sunday League football and managing his Winton Yanited team.

During United's 3-0 victory over Everton in November 2023, Ginge recorded himself participating in the contentious 'Feed the Scousers' chant in the away end - a video that garnered millions of views. The chant, set to the melody of the Christmas charity single 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' by Band Aid in 1984, makes light of food poverty.

Following an overwhelming negative response, Ginge, who was brought up on a council estate and raised by his mother and nan, issued a heartfelt apology on his social media platforms after discussing with his Liverpudlian friends and understanding the meaning of the chant.

"I've just seen the tweets that are going around about the chant I sang at the Everton game," he penned. "I'm so sorry I sang that chant, I got caught up in the moment and didn't think about what it actually meant.

"I've been told by some of my scouse mates that it's mocking poverty, and I want to say I'm so sorry I sang it and if I offended you. I've come from that background, on a council estate and ate £1 microwave meals every night.

"I 100% sympathise with you and I'm sorry, I genuinely meant nothing by it, I just got caught up. I'm so disappointed to be honest and I understand the anger, 100% because it's wrong, I did not mean to do it at all."

Sporting his signature red Lightning McQueen crocs, Ginge had viewers in stitches from the very first episode. In the episode, he triumphed in a challenge to secure a place in the 'luxury getaway car' alongside Aitch, Eddie Kadi and Jack Osbourne.

The victorious foursome were treated to steak for dinner and luxury beds upon their arrival in camp. Ginge has been put forward for the very first bushtucker trial, with both he and Ruby Wax participating in the first eating challenge at 'The Divey' in an attempt to win meals for camp. If he is chosen to undertake a second consecutive trial, he will then be exempt from the next one due to a new rule introduced for this year's show.

Angry Ginge is capturing the hearts of a new generation during his stint in I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here, and his latest confession about being sober has even more people praising him.

In the comments, someone wrote: "I loved seeing the conversation around sobriety (as someone is over two years in) and how they were all so honest and open about it. Hopefully it makes a difference to someone younger than me!"

Another gushed: "Angry Ginge is HUGE for the younger male demographic. He’s a fantastic role model and on a program that’s extremely popular. Both my daughters are in relationships with boys (18 & 20), and they are far too cool to watch this usually. However, both are LOCKED IN to watch Angry Ginge and defo agree with what you say".

And a third said: "He's absolutely brilliant. My 14-year-old boy absolutely loves him. And has actually been watching I'm a Celeb with me. He barely comes out of his room normally. Ginge is an absolute sweetheart, so is Aitch, two great role models for young men and teenage boys".
