'My information is...' - Fabrizio Romano shares Lewis-Skelly exit update at Arsenal ahead of…

Arsenal are not considering letting Myles Lewis-Skelly leave during the January transfer window amid interest from other clubs, GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

The Gunners are reportedly aiming to keep the 19-year-old defender in Mikel Arteta’s squad for the rest of the campaign and see him as an ‘absolutely crucial’ part of the team.

Lewis-Skelly was linked with a move to another Premier League club earlier this month amid his struggles for regular playing time at the Emirates this season.

The youngster has clocked up just 87 minutes of football in the Premier League and has dropped out of the England picture as a result.

Thomas Tuchel omitted Lewis-Skelly from the squad for November’s international break and has publicly warned the youngster that he needs to be playing more to make himself a candidate for the World Cup squad.

Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, revealed that Arsenal are not considering letting Lewis-Skelly depart during the January transfer window as they want to maintain the squad depth they currently have:

“My information is that Arsenal, at this stage, are not considering an exit for Myles Lewis-Skelly.

“Arsenal see Lewis-Skelly as an absolutely important and crucial player.

“Obviously, in that position, there is also Riccardo Calafiori, but Calafiori has also had some injuries in recent years and so Arsenal don't want to face any risk of having players out and being in an emergency situation in the second half of the season.”

A third-choice behind Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie at left-back, Lewis-Skelly has made 12 appearances for Arsenal this term, registering three assists in over 450 minutes of game time.

The 19-year-old defender has yet to start a Premier League game in 2025/26, with all seven of his appearances coming off the bench.

His only starts this season took place in the Champions League wins over Olympiacos and Atletico Madrid, as well as Carabao Cup wins against Port Vale and Brighton.

Lewis-Skelly was a regular under Arteta last term, with 15 of his 23 league appearances for Arsenal coming in the starting line-up.

The youngster has amassed 51 senior appearances for the Gunners to date, scoring one goal and providing five assists.
