After a long wait and multiple setbacks, FC Barcelona finally made their return to the Spotify Camp Nou today with the La Liga clash against Athletic Club.
The Blaugrana had to wait for more than 900 days for their homecoming, having had to move temporarily to the Montjuic Stadium as renovation works were carried out at their iconic home.
Leading up to today’s game, there was a lot of chatter among the fans as to who would be the person to score the first goal at the new Spotify Camp Nou to etch his name in history.
And the honour went to Robert Lewandowski as he found the back of the net for Barcelona in the first game back at the stadium.

Just four minutes into the match, the veteran Pole capitalised on some shoddy defensive work from Athletic to fire home a left-footed shot past Unai Simon to put the Catalans in the lead.
Despite having been at the club for only three and a half years, Lewandowski has already accomplished some great things at Barcelona and has achieved icon status.
This moment, with him being the first goalscorer at the renovated Spotify Camp Nou, will further enrich his legacy at the Catalan club.
