Nottingham Forest opened the scoring at Anfield with a goal that had similarities to Liverpool’s disallowed leveller at the Etihad a fortnight ago.

Liverpool found themselves behind once again in the Premier League this afternoon after Nottingham Forest defender opened the scoring at Anfield following a set-piece.

It highlights the continued vulnerability the Reds have shown this season when it comes to dealing with set-pieces.

Despite starting the game well and dominating possession, Liverpool were unable to find the goal to put themselves ahead.

Instead, they conceded first again, making it the eight time in the last eleven matches that they have gone into the half-time interval behind.

There was a VAR check following the goal, as Ndoye was seen to be within Alisson’s view as Murillo struck the ball.

Liverpool were on the other side of such a decision a fortnight ago, as Van Dijk’s leveller against Manchester City was ruled out after it was deemed Robertson had blocked Donnaruuma’s view as the ball sailed into the net.

Premier League Match Centre have cleared up the controversy on X, stating:

“The referee’s call of goal was checked and confirmed by VAR – with it deemed that Ndoye was not in the line of vision of Alisson and did not make an action that impacted an opponent.”
