Clippers Hit With Major Kawhi Leonard News Before Facing Hornets

Kawhi Leonard is expected to be back on the court for the Los Angeles Clippers this weekend.

According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, Leonard is expected to make his return on Sunday to face the Cleveland Cavaliers. It will be his first game since November 3.

This year, Leonard started the season off healthy and available. He appeared in the Clippers' first six games, before getting an unfortunate injury update, which forced him to miss 10 games in a row.

During that stretch, the Clippers faced plenty of struggles. They've won just one game since he went out. The victory was a double-overtime thriller against the Dallas Mavericks, which resulted in a 133-127 victory for LA.

Earlier in the week, the Clippers revealed a key update regarding Leonard, noting that he’s been back on the court and preparing for a return soon. However, it was stated that he wasn’t “certain” to return to the court during the current road trip. Based on Haynes’ reporting, it seems Leonard will get a chance to hit the floor before the Clippers make their way back to Los Angeles.

The Clippers will get a chance to bounce back against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday afternoon. The 4-11 Hornets will host the Clippers for a 1 PM ET tip. Leonard will be sidelined for the 11th game in a row.

On Sunday, the Clippers will be back on the court fo face an 11-6 Cleveland team. It will be a big challenge for Leonard and the Clippers. Before Leonard went out earlier in the year, the Clippers managed to win three of their first six games.

Over that stretch, Leonard averaged 33.5 minutes of action. He shot 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from three (5.8 attempts from deep per game) to average 24.3 points. Along with his scoring, Leonard came down with 5.7 rebounds per game and averaged 3.5 assists. He also contributed to 2.5 steals and nearly one block per game on the defensive end of the court.
