Real Madrid’s main priority for the next transfer window is to reinforce and rejuvenate the defensive line.
The Spanish capital club have several options on their list, including Ibrahima Konate. The Liverpool defender’s contract expires at the end of the current season and he has not yet renewed.
Another player on the radars of Real Madrid happens to be Konate’s compatriot, Dayot Upamecano, who finds himself in a similar situation at Bayern Munich.
Upamecano wants Real Madrid switch
Now, according to reports relayed by Defensa Central, Upamecano’s priority would be to move to Real Madrid in the summer.
Bayern Munich, for their part, have been pushing hard to extend the defender’s contract and talks have been taking place with his agent, but without a breakthrough.
Upamecano’s situation has sparked major interest from clubs across Europe, with the likes of PSG and Barcelona also keeping an eye on his situation.

However, as per the report, the French international is prioritising a summer transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu, which would give Real Madrid a huge advantage.
The sporting department at Real Madrid like Upamecano because of his pace and physicality, as well as his ability to carry the ball forward from the back – which would make him an ideal fit in Xabi Alonso’s tactical setup.
Bayern remain optimistic
Officials at Bayern Munich have been quite optimistic about the situation, with club president Herbert Hainer affirming as much in a recent interview.
“I think he feels at ease in Munich. For him, it is, of course, an important decision. In principle, he really likes being in Bayern. We would like to keep him. I am moderately optimistic,” he said.
But, as per the aforementioned report, Upamecano could be leaning towards a transfer to Real Madrid over a renewal at Bayern Munich.
