Nottingham Forest recoded back-to-back wins at Anfield with a 3-0 victory over the Premier League champions Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.
Goals from Murillo in the opening 45 and Nicolò Savona and Morgan Gibbs-White in the second period meant it was three historic points for Forest and successive Premier League wins under Sean Dyche.
The win moves Forest up to 16th in the Premier League table ahead of Europa League action against Malmö FF on Thursday.
Forest started with confidence at Anfield, enjoying plenty of play in the Liverpool half of play and limited Arne Slot’s side in front of the Kop.
Miloš Kerkez saw an effort fly over Matz Sels’ goal with little threat while Cody Gakpo’s drive was bravely blocked on the line.
Forest maintained the threat on the break and opened the scoring in front of the travelling supporters thanks to Murillo.
Elliot Anderson’s corner was only cleared as far as the Brazilian who returned the ball with interest to give the Reds the half-time advantage.
One could easily have been two, only for Igor Jesus’ goal minutes later to be ruled out by VAR for handball.
Half-time: Liverpool 0-1 Forest
If the first half was good, the second would only get better for the travelling Forest faithful as minutes into the second half Savona placed fellow full-back Neco Williams’ cross into the net in front of the Kop to extend the Forest advantage.
Dyche’s side looked content in possession and in restricting the rare advances of the home side.
Sels was comfortable collecting crosses and any efforts on goal were held by the Belgium international in between the sticks.
Two would become three for Forest with 12 minutes remaining when Gibbs-White placed the ball into the net after Allison had denied substitute Omari Hutchinson following a mazy run.
Liverpool probed for a late way back into the contest but found a resilient Forest defence in the way of any chances they created and the Reds claimed successive wins at the home of the current champions.
Dyche’s charges are back in action on Thursday with a visit from Malmö to the City Ground, before facing Brighton & Hove Albion on home soil next Sunday.
