Aaron Rodgers spent the week trying to mend a fractured left wrist back into something playable, but the update he delivered ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Chicago Bears game hasn't provided the most clarity about his availability.

Rodgers left the Steelers’ 34-12 win over the Bengals after getting hurt late in the first half, and the team held him out of Wednesday's practice before giving him limited sessions on Thursday and Friday.

The NFL quarterback said he dedicated the day to rehab, worked closely with his trainers, and still maintained plans to put his hands to the test in the hours leading up to game day.

"A lot of rehab," said Rodgers. "Was thankful to get today to work with Gabe and just focus on rehab for a day, and try to get back on the field tomorrow and see what we can do."

Rodgers fractured a bone in the wrist and tried to push through the pain before being replaced by Mason Rudolph for the second half. He wore a brace throughout the week during his limited practice sessions.

Insiders said he is trying to force his way into the lineup for Chicago because he believes the Steelers' position in the AFC North demands it. Rodgers completed nine of 15 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown before leaving the Cincinnati game, and the offense stalled without him.

Pittsburgh sits at 6-4 and holds the division lead, but the Baltimore Ravens have ripped off four straight wins and sit one game behind the Steelers and have scored more points than any team in the AFC North. The Ravens have given up the second-most points in the division, but their offensive momentum has suddenly shifted a written-off team into a Super Bowl contender.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin added that the team will "see where the weekend leads us." Rodgers' injury history suggests he will push every boundary. He has suffered 17 documented injuries over 21 years, but only five have ever resulted in missed games.

His left hand has only been impacted by injury twice. The first came when he played through a grade 1 thumb fracture at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Packers’ loss to the Giants in a game then led by Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley. The second is the wrist that now threatens his Week 12 availability.

Rodgers missed six games with a foot fracture in 2006 and one game in 2010 after a concussion. He missed seven games in 2017 with a fractured clavicle and tried to return for a brief stretch before being shut down.
