Bears place Tremaine Edmunds on injured reserve

LAKE FOREST, Ill., — The bad news keeps pouring in for the Chicago Bears. A day after the team ruled out their top three linebackers for Week 12 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, they found out they will be without one of those linebackers for an extended period of time.

On Saturday, the Bears placed linebacker Tremaine Edmunds on injured reserve. They also placed running back Roschon Johnson on injured reserve as well.

Edmunds suffered a groin injury in the second half of the Bears' win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 11, but did not miss a snap. It's severe enough to put him out with him not being able to return until Week 17. The injury is a tough one for the Bears' defense as Edmunds was playing at a high level.

The linebacker has 89 tackles to lead the Bears this season as well as four interceptions which is second-most on the team.

To replace Edmunds and Johnson, the Bears have signed running back Brittain Brown and linebacker Carl Jones Jr. to the active roster.

In addition to those moves, the Bears have elevated tight end Nikola Kalinic and offensive lineman Jordan McFadden from the practice squad for Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Per NFL regulation, all standard elevations revert back to the practice squad following the game.
