Man City boss Guardiola defends Donnarumma after defeat to Newcastle

Pep Guardiola does not think Gianluigi Donnarumma is struggling with the physicality of the Premier League.

Manchester City goalkeeper Donnarumma was left feeling aggrieved after failing to be awarded a foul for a push right before Harvey Barnes scored the winner for Newcastle in their 2-1 victory.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp said afterwards that he believed Donnarumma should have been stronger, however.

“I didn’t see the action but I rely a lot on my players.”

When asked if Donnarumma is adapting to the physicality of English football following his summer move to the club, Guardiola replied: “He’s physically strong huh?

“It’s not a question for Gigi.”
