NFL Makes Punishment Decision After Patrick Mahomes Incident vs Broncos

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs picked up their second straight loss in a 22-19 defeat at the hands of the Denver Broncos in Week 11 that dropped the team to 5-5 on the season.

After the game, Mahomes admitted his part in the team's loss that leaves the Chiefs on the outside of a playoff spot looking in.

“I think we’re really talented and we’ve got a lot of great players, but it’s about being more consistent. I think it starts with me,” Mahomes said. “There’s times where I’m firing and we’re moving the ball down the field at ease. But there’s times where we go in spurts where I miss a throw or a [pass] protection call."

In addition to the loss, Mahomes faced a potential fine for his actions during the game.

Late in the first quarter of Sunday's game, Mahomes scrambled to his right before being tackle by Broncos star Nik Bonitto and linebacker Justin Strnad, who was filling in for star linebacker Alex Singleton following his cancer announcement. After being tackled, Mahomes appeared to loom over Strnad who remained down on the ground.

Broncos fans wanted a call for taunting, but there was no penalty on the play. Over the past two weeks seven players have been hit with fines for taunting during games.

Just last weeks Atlanta Falcons star Jessie Bates and Houston Texans corner Kamari Lassiter were fined. The week prior,

Carolina Panthers linebacker Nic Scourton, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens, Houston Texans wide receiver Xavier Hutchinson, Seattle Seahawks corner Tariq Woolen and Washington Commanders linebacker Jordan Magee all received fines as well.

In the end, Mahomes did not receive a fine.
