Andrey Santos Hails Chelsea Team Bonding After MOTM Performance in 2-0 Win Over Burnley

Andrey Santos has hailed the “family” environment at Chelsea after delivering a strong midfield performance in the Blues’ 2-0 Premier League victory over Burnley at Turf Moor. The Brazilian notably started in the absence of Moises Caicedo. He helped Enzo Maresca’s side to a third successive league win and clean sheet, with Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez scoring in each half.

The result moved Chelsea up to second in the table, three points behind leaders Arsenal, while Burnley stayed 17th after a third straight defeat. Reflecting on the victory and his own display, Santos said:

“It’s a big victory, so I’m really happy to be here and to play.”

The 20-year-old covered ground, broke up play in front of the back line and helped Chelsea limit the hosts to only two shots on target in a controlled away performance. Santos underlined the influence of the rest of Chelsea’s midfield unit, adding:

“Every day I learn something from Moises, Enzo and Romeo Lavia. Our team is like a family and we help each other every day, and I’m so happy to play with all of them. The most important thing is the three points and the away victory, and now we have to keep going, keep fighting for every game.”

Speaking about the nature of the contest, the Brazilian midfielder welcomed the physical test at Turf Moor:

“It’s a Premier League game and we knew it was going be difficult. I like to get involved with the tackles, to help my team-mates, and I’m so happy with my performance today, and the performance of the team. We fought very well for the win.”

How Chelsea Beat Burnley

Chelsea’s 2-0 success at Turf Moor was built on control of key moments and superior efficiency in both boxes. While Burnley made an energetic start and pressed high, the visitors gradually took charge, ending with 56% possession, 15 shots to the hosts’ eight, and a 1.60-0.40 advantage in expected goals.

Burnley’s early aggression brought four attempts in the opening stages as they targeted wide areas, but they struggled to turn pressure into clear chances. Chelsea struck first in the 37th minute when a sweeping move down the left ended with Gittens delivering a precise cross for Neto to score with a diving header.

After the interval, Maresca’s side managed the game with increasing assurance. Chelsea limited Burnley to just two shots on target and one corner, while generating nine corners and regular transitions of their own. The decisive second goal arrived late, as a counter-attack that culminated in Guiu’s squared pass and Fernandez’s composed finish to make it 2-0.
