Packers Get Concerning Josh Jacobs News Before Vikings Game

Ahead of the Week 12 NFC North showdown between the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings, the injury status of star running back Josh Jacobs has been a major question mark.

Jacobs, who injured his knee in the Packers’ Week 11 win on the road against the New York Giants, has been questionable for this week’s game. There have not been many updates about his status throughout the week.

So far this season, Green Bay has had an inconsistent offense that is more than capable of being elite. Jacobs is a huge part of making that offense fire on all cylinders. If he is forced to miss the game against the Vikings, the Packers’ offense could take a big step in the wrong direction.

With that being said, a new update has been shared about Jacobs’ status for Sunday afternoon.

According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Green Bay plans to test Jacobs’ knee before the game against Minnesota. However, the knee is still tender and the Packers will take on the Detroit Lions on a short week on Thanksgiving Day.

“Packers plan to work out RB Josh Jacobs, who is listed as questionable due to a knee injury, in pre-game warmups before deciding whether or not he will play vs. the Vikings, per source,” Schefter wrote on X. “Though Jacobs knee is structurally sound, it still is tender from last week and the Packers have another game in four days on Thanksgiving in Detroit to consider. But the team wants to see how Jacobs feels pregame before making any decisions.”

At this point in time, fans still don’t have a concrete answer when it comes to Jacobs’ status. But, it seems reasonable to expect that he will miss this week’s game and focus on returning to the field against the Lions.

In 10 games this season, the 27-year-old running back has carried the football 169 times for 648 yards and 11 touchdowns. He has averaged just 3.8 yards per carry, which is far less efficient than he was last season, but he has still be an integral part of the offense.

Should Jacobs be forced to miss this week’s game, Green Bay would turn to Emmanuel Wilson as its starting running back. Wilson has shown major flashes of potential this season in a backup role.

Expect to hear more about Jacobs in the near future. For now, his status against the Vikings is very much in doubt.
