Alexander Isak “hardly had a kick” as Ibrahima Konate “alarming” yet again

Alexander Isak was so ineffective in Liverpool’s 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest that you could have been forgiven for forgetting he was on the pitch entirely.

The Reds were stunned at Anfield on Saturday afternoon as they fell to their sixth defeat in 12 Premier League matches this season.

Here we compare our ratings with the Liverpool Echo, GOAL and the TIA readers.

For Isak (2.75), this was a chastening day, with the Swede scoring lowest for a hapless Liverpool side.

The Reds’ record signing only touched the ball once in the opening 20 minutes and looks a far cry from the world-class striker we saw at Newcastle.

GOAL’s Stephen Darwin said Isak “hardly had a kick” all game, while This Is Anfield‘s Henry Jackson pointed out that he “lost all seven duels.”

Quite how Darwin gave Virgil van Dijk (3/10) a worse score than Ibrahima Konate (4/10) beggars belief, though!

Konate (3.65) was again miles below the required standard, with Ian Doyle of the Echo bemoaning an “alarming first-half showing.”

Dominik Szoboszlai (5.45) got the best rating for Liverpool, as has been the case for much of this season.

What the stats say

On a day when Liverpool toiled, Van Dijk still won nine out of 11 aerial duels (82 percent), which was six more than any player, according to FotMob.

He also won the most duels (10) for the Reds, whereas Konate only won four, highlighting the difference between the centre-back pair.

Liverpool’s midfield was again lacking the influence it did last season, with Alexis Mac Allister winning a measly two out of seven duels (29 percent).

As mentioned, Isak won none, summing up his complete lack of impact, and he also failed to complete a successful dribble.
