There are certain places the Pittsburgh Steelers historically lose. One of those was Foxborough, though they exorcised those demons earlier this year. Now, they hope to go to Chicago and face the Bears in a place they have historically faltered.
Over the team’s history, they are just 1-12 in Chicago, with the lone win coming over the Bears in 1995. That one was a high scoring affair, with the Steelers pulling out a 37-34 win out of the blue. To this point, the franchise can not seem to win otherwise in Chicago.
They have not been in the Windy City since 2017, but that game was equally as odd. In Week 3, a 13-3 Steelers team inexplicably lost a 5-11 Bears team on the road in overtime.
That voodoo has consistently followed the Steelers here. Soldier Field itself has been a house of horror. In 2009, the same year the Steelers made it to the Super Bowl, they still could not overcome the Bears, falling 17-14.
Pittsburgh has found success in this matchup at home, and in their last ten games, has three wins back in the Steel City. However, if the Steelers want to pop into Chicago this time around and improve to 7-4 with a win over a solid Bears team, they have to overcome some worrying trends.
