There were a few great performance for Chelsea yesterday in their win over Burnley, and many of them have already been praised.
Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez got goals, Andrey Santos got man of the match and Marc Cucurella got praised by his manager after the game.

But there were other, less heralded performances that were key to the victory. Of the outfield players who didn’t get a goal or an assist (or the MOTM trophy), Trevoh Chalobah was Chelsea’s top rated.
His passing was accurate at 88% completion, and he took the second most touches on the team with 73.
His long ball forward to Cucurella also created the first goal for his team. He made one really important first half block and 3 tackles and 3 interceptions in the game. Overall his positioning was excellent, and he rarely looked flustered alongside Tosin as Burnley largely struggled to threaten their partnership.
The home team were restricted to just 8 shots at home, despite having had 44% possession, showing how effectively they were held at arm’s length by Chalobah at the back.
With Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana now back and fit, competition for minutes at the back is intense again. But surely Enzo Maresca won’t look beyond Chalobah and his good form when it comes to the Arsenal and Barcelona games next week?
In other Burnley win news…
Maresca was asked about Cucurella’s contribution to the win, and he praised the defender’s ability to get into the box and cause the opposition problems, as he did for his team’s opening goal yesterday.
Chelsea boss Maresca also defended his team’s attacking patterns when questioned about them, claiming he was happy to spread the goals around rather than worrying about his strikers scoring.
