Why Enzo Maresca was'furious'with Robert Sanchez before role in Chelsea's second goal vs Burnley - journalist

Robert Sanchez is Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper, and that is unlikely to change this season.

As a result, Filip Jorgensen could leave west London in January, though the club seem very reluctant to sanction a loan deal.

Right now, the 23-year-old cannot have too many complaints about Sanchez being the No.1. He has been excellent in most of Chelsea’s games in the current campaign.

However, there was one moment involving Sanchez during the Blues’ 2-0 win against Burnley on Saturday that left Enzo Maresca far from happy.

Robert Sanchez’s misplaced pass left Enzo Maresca fuming

Maresca has Sanchez to thank for Chelsea’s second goal at Turf Moor. The move started from the Spaniard playing a simple pass to Malo Gusto while under pressure.

Shortly before that, though, Sanchez failed to initiate a counter-attack after kicking the ball straight out of play. Maresca was “furious” with him, according to journalist Bobby Vincent.

Overall, Maresca will be pleased with the 28-year-old and the improvement that he has shown this term. Sanchez’s cross stopping has been excellent and may be the strongest area of his game right now.

Chelsea have been linked with other goalkeepers, but if Sanchez maintains the form that he is in, there will be no reason for the Blues to sign a new one.

After failing to bring him in over the summer, AC Milan’s Mike Maignan could still be an option for Chelsea with his contract running down.

Robert Sanchez still had a good game against Burnley

Maresca cannot be too angry with Sanchez. He did not do much wrong at Turf Moor.

As per Sofascore, the Spain international made a couple of saves and one high claim, while he also completed one successful run out.

His pass to Gusto before Enzo Fernandez’s goal was obviously an important contribution, too.

Unless he gets injured, Sanchez will start huge games against Barcelona in the Champions League and Arsenal in the Premier League next week.
