Ruben Dias was left frustrated at key decisions

Speaking to Sky Sports, Manchester City defender Ruben Dias didn't feel like his side got the rub of the green on Saturday evening as he looked a frustrated figure when talking about on the penalty incident that wasn’t given after Fabian Schar appeared to foul Phil Foden in the area, and for Newcastle's winner as he felt City keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was impeded by goal scorer Harvey Barnes with both decisions going in the way of the hosts following a VAR review.

He said: “Obviously, I feel there’s one in the first half with Phil (Foden). I feel like they were saying it was very clear, but I don’t even know; I feel out of all the decisions, I mean, only the second goal – I feel, like we need to make it make sense.

Where’s the sense in that player pushing our keeper outside the goal? What are we allowing, and for how long?

Where’s the place? It’s more like sometimes you allow it and sometimes you don’t, so where’s the rule? What can you actually do?."

He went on to say: "Because in our second Gigi (Donnarumma) is in his place; he’s being pushed out and there’s no consequence; it’s allowed, so I mean, I’ve had the chance to see it, I didn’t even realise on the pitch.

*"Obviously, I found it weird he was out of position, so we immediately felt that something was wrong, but I had the chance to see the review now and I think it’s Barnes; I’m not sure he’s pushing him away from the goal, but we’re so picky with certain contacts, but then one like this, with the keeper, you allow it, I mean it is what it is, but if this is the rule, fine, then let us do the same."*

He added: “ Back in the day, this was a foul. Now apparently it’s allowed. I mean it’s one of those times when you lose; people are going to say I’m finding excuses, but it’s nothing like it."

**Dias**was also honest in his assessment of the defeat in the North East.

He said: "Today, Newcastle were better, and they deserved the win because of that they finished more chances than we did."
