PITTSBURGH -- Is Aaron Rodgers playing against the Chicago Bears? The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback is listed as questionable heading into their Week 12 matchup, but there's a driving force pushing the passer to play - himself. Meanwhile, the doctors may be saying otherwise.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Steelers are going to take their final decision on Rodgers down to the wire. The team doesn't need to release an injury report until 90 minutes before kickoff, and will use all of that time before saying if Rodgers is playing or not.
"Aaron Rodgers has been pushing to play Sunday vs. the Bears, but Steelers doctors have been more cautious and guarded, per sources. If the decision is left to Rodgers, he will play, but the team has declined to provide hints as to its final decision," Schefter tweeted.
Here's what we know. Rodgers was able to practice in a limited capacity during the final two days of preparation for the Steelers. In the NFL, limited participation can mean many things, ranging from nearly a full practice to only individual drills.
Rodgers had good practices during those two days, but the team's top priority is to keep him safe and make sure there is no long-term risk associated with playing.
Rodgers wore a brace during the final two days of practice and will likely wear one during the game if he does play. The players are allowed to take the field at Soldier Field before the game, which is when Rodgers will get to showcase his health one final time.

What the trainers will be looking for during that time is not his ability to throw the football, but rather take snaps and provide handoffs. Does it limit his ability to do things outside of throwing, and how much danger is associated with it for himself and the offense.
Rodgers obviously wants to get another shot at the Bears. He didn't admit it, but also said he's enjoyed played of games in Chicago and getting to go back excites him.
"There's incentive for every opponent, but I have enjoyed many Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays in that city. It’s agreat sports town, with phenomenal sports fans and great place to play," Rodgers said.
He'd want to be on the field against any team, especially with Pittsburgh owning a one-game lead in the division and the team being up-and-down in recent weeks.
The expectation is that Rodgers will play against the Bears. That could change if the medical staff doesn't like what they see in his final walk-through, but if it's up to Rodgers, he's going to be on the field.
90 minutes before kickoff, we'll all find out if he gets his wish.
