Shedeur Sanders’ mom sends strong message before his first NFL start

If you have followed the Cleveland Browns long enough, you would know that sooner or later, rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders was going to get his chance.

The Browns have long been known as the factory of sadness. One reason for that is that the team has never found a long-term solution at quarterback.

Last week, in their loss to the Baltimore Ravens, the Browns lost starting quarterback Dillion Gabriel to an injury. With that injury, it was time for Sanders to finally get his moment on the field.

It wasn’t a moment that Sanders would like to remember. The rookie quarterback finished 4/16 passing with an interception. However, that was with no preparation.

This week, Sanders will be leading the Cleveland offense when they take on the Las Vegas Raiders. It’s a battle between two 2-8 squads, but that doesn’t mean this isn’t a big moment.

On Sunday morning, Sanders’ mother, Pilar Sanders, shared a video on her Instagram to celebrate the huge moment in her son’s career.

The video is the perfect example of a sports mom. It’s something a loving mom would share in support of one of the biggest moments in their child’s life.

Trying To Make History

Browns rookie QB Shedeur Sanders will make his first NFL start Sunday vs. the Raiders, and will try to do something no Cleveland QB has in 26 years. Going back to 1999, when the franchise returned to Cleveland, Browns quarterbacks are 0-17 in their first career start. pic.twitter.com/pK5rDPZr07

Since his slide to the fifth round in the 2025 NFL Draft, Sanders has been one of the most talked-about players in the league.

Today, he will have a chance to prove to everyone, including the Browns, that this could be a great start to a potential legendary career.

The rookie quarterback also has the chance to make history in his first start. No Browns quarterback has won their first start since the franchise returned in 1999.

All eyes are on Las Vegas. I’m not quite sure that was something anyone had expected with the two teams that will be participating.
