Lakers hold pickleball tournament featuring LeBron and Doncic

Los Angeles Lakers used their long break between games to hold a team pickleball tournament on Friday. The event featured several stars, including LeBron James, Rui Hachimura, Austin Reaves, Jarred Vanderbilt, and even Luka Doncic, who teamed up with assistant coach Ty Abbott and reached the final.

Los Angeles Lakers had an unusual gap in their schedule this week, playing on Tuesday and then not suiting up again until Sunday.

With so much time between games, the team used the break to mix practice sessions with some off-court competition.

On Friday, the Lakers organized a full pickleball tournament, which ended with Jake LaRavia and assistant coach Beau Levesque taking the title. Their final matchup came against a team led by Luka Doncic and assistant coach Ty Abbott.

The bracket itself became almost as entertaining as the results. One of the most eye-catching lineups included LeBron James, Rui Hachimura and assistant coach Greg St. Jean.

Their run didn’t last long, though, as they were knocked out in the opening round by Austin Reaves and Jarred Vanderbilt.

President of Basketball Operations Rob Pelinka was also listed, with his team potentially set to face JJ Redick’s group, had they advanced.
