Real Madrid have apologised to Elche and its forward Andre da Silva after mistakenly including his image in an emotional tribute video to those who have died during the year.
Los Blancos wanted to remember Liverpool forward Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, who lost their lives in a horrific traffic accident back in July. However, the person into the photo next to Jota in the obituary of Real's institutional video was not his brother Andre Silva, but the Elche player Andre da Silva.
A statement from Real on X read: "Real Madrid C.F. apologises to Elche C.F. and its player Andre da Silva for having mistakenly included his image in the obituary of an institutional video instead of that of Andre Silva, the brother of Diogo Jota, the Liverpool player. We regret this incident."
Andre da Silva, 30, joined Elche following his departure from RB Leipzig in the summer. The Portuguese has since scored four times in 11 La Liga appearances and he is expected to start against Real on Sunday evening.
Andre Silva, meanwhile, died alongside Jota after both were involved in a tragic car crash earlier this year. The duo were en route to the port city of Santander to catch a ferry back to the UK when their Lamborghini spun off the road and burst into flames near Zamora, Spain, following a tyre blowout.

As for Real, they have made an excellent start to the season and sit second in the La Liga table heading into the trip to Elche, having won 10 and drawn one of their 12 fixtures. Xabi Alonso's side will move back to the top - above leaders Barcelona - with a win at the Estadio Martinez Valero.
Before the trip to Liverpool earlier this month, Real made a heartfelt tribute to Jota. On that occasion, it was Alonso, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Emilio Butragueno who laid flowers next to the altar that remembers the footballer.
Writing a heartbreaking message on his tribute, Alexander-Arnold said: "My mate Diogo, you are so missed but still so loved. Yours and Andre's memory will always live on.
"I smile every time I think about you and will always remember the great times we shared. Miss you mate, every day. Love Trent and family. Forever 20. YNWA."
Issuing his own message, Alonso said: "On my own behalf and on behalf of the club, I'd like to send our heartfelt condolences to the families of Diogo Jota and Andre Silva.
"We send them a warm embrace from here. It was extremely sad news that deeply affected us all. We started the day with a feeling that really makes you pause and reflect, and we spoke about it.
