Manchester United are set to be without three stars when they face Everton and could well be missing two more.

Ruben Amorim picked up his first win at Old Trafford in this fixture last season and will lead his side into the game after a positive run of form before the international break.

The stoppage time equaliser at Tottenham Hotspur last time out sparked raucous celebrations but it was a point that came at a cost with Harry Maguire and Benjamin Sesko picking up knocks.

Neither of those players are set to be available for the visit of the Blues. Amorim believes he will be without summer signing Sesko for a number of weeks. He is expected to return around the start of the Africa Cup of Nations next month.

Maguire picked up a muscle injury at Spurs and Amorim, speaking ahead of Monday night’s game, confirmed he would be without the centre back.

He could welcome central midfielder Kobbie Mainoo into his plans, even though he missed training on Friday. Amorim said: "Kobbie didn't train today but I think tomorrow we could see Kobbie, so we will see.”

Another ‘wait-and-see’ is now Matheus Cunha, who pulled out of his involvement in the Altrincham Christmas lights switch-on on Saturday, with organisers citing a training ground “accident” suffered on Saturday.

Long-term injury absence Lisandro Martinez is moving towards a return from the knee injury suffered in February, but is not expected to be back to face Everton.

The Blues have their own long-term absentees, with defenders Jarrad Branthwaite and Nathan Patterson both out. On Friday, David Moyes said Merlin Rohl had been added to that list after requiring surgery on a hernia issue over the international break.
