Manchester United face Everton in the Premier League and Toffees boss David Moyes was asked about Carrington graduate Scott McTominay in the build up.
During the November international break, Scott McTominay scored a stunning overhead kick to help send Scotland to the 2026 World Cup.
It was the latest stage of McTominay’s transformation since leaving United. The 28-year-old midfielder has not looked back since leaving the Red Devils in a £25m deal.

Club football is now resuming, and Manchester United will host Everton at Old Trafford on Monday night and welcome back former manager David Moyes.
What David Moyes told Ruben Amorim to ‘fix’ at Man Utd 🗣️🎙️
It’s not always calling the players out, but I see a little bit where I think the players are quite happy to hide behind the manager and let him take the hit for them. I could do with some of them saying, ‘I’m not quite at it at the moment, not playing well.’
We’re not getting much of that. That work rate is the first thing that any manager has to talk with players about.

Interestingly, Everton have been linked with a move for Scott McTominay, which would welcome the Scottish star back to the Premier League.

How David Moyes responded to Scott McTominay links
Earlier this week, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano explained that United have a sell-on clause for McTominay, meaning a big-money deal for the Napoli midfielder would be financially beneficial.
Many United fans would welcome McTominay back after his exit, but it is Everton who are being linked with a move.

In his pre-match press conference, Moyes refused to rule out a move for McTominay, even at a price of £60m.

“But it might happen.”
Man United overhaul should not include Scott McTominay
There is understandably a lot of regret about how McTominay’s departure was handled, especially as his replacement Manuel Ugarte has struggled to impress.
In 2026, United’s priority is to overhaul the midfield with Casemiro’s contract expiring, Kobbie Mainoo open to an exit and Bruno Fernandes linked with Saudi Arabia.
McTominay still loves United from afar having grown up in the club’s academy, but Ineos cannot afford to let emotions run the recruitment drive.

United need to plan for the future, and targets such as Elliot Anderson or Adam Wharton would set up the Red Devils for the next decade.
With Napoli demanding around £60m for McTominay, United are better off striking a big-money deal for a younger star with higher potential.
