If any quarterback in the NFL knows what it takes to beat the Chicago Bears consistently, it's Pittsburgh Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers.
On Sunday, Rodgers had planned to wait until kickoff to decide if he could play through a wrist injury sustained in the second quarter of Week 11 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
However, shortly after arriving at Soldier Field, Rodgers took a lap around the field, made a gesture at some cameras filming him, and headed back into the tunnel.
Soon afterward, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin officially ruled Rodgers out for the game against Chicago during a pregame interview with CBS Sports' Evan Washburn. The decision wasn't much of a surprise, but the team wanted to wait until Sunday to make a final determination.
Fans reacted to Rodgers’ pregame behavior before being officially ruled out:
“Absolutely goated. [Rodgers] owns the city, fanbase, and team of Chicago lmao,” a fan said.
Someone else added, “Embarrassing and childish.”
Another person wrote, “Stay classy Rodgers. Stay classy. Smh.”
“Classy as always,” one more fan commented.
Mason Rudolph will start in place of Rodgers. He played the entire second half against the Bengals, completing 12-of-16 passes for 127 yards and one touchdown.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Rodgers should be ready to play next week at home against the Buffalo Bills, but the turnaround was just too quick for him to suit up a week after suffering a minor wrist fracture.
