The Pittsburgh Steelers are without Aaron Rodgers against one of his favorite opponents, but the locker room has plenty of confidence with Mason Rudolph against the Chicago Bears. Pittsburgh hasn’t fared well in Chicago with just one win dating back their first matchup in 1936. I wasn’t even born yet the last time the Steelers won a game in Chicago against the Bears.
Rudolph played better off the bench than Rodgers did as the starter last week, and now he had a full week with the game plan being focused on his skill set. The last time he started for the Steelers in the regular season, he won three-straight games to qualify them for the playoffs in 2023. If nothing else, Rudolph should unlock a Steelers’ deep-passing game that’s been almost nonexistent with Rodgers.
The Bears are without several important players on defense, which should help Rudolph’s case. Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon remain on IR in the secondary, and all three of their starting linebackers were ruled out on Friday. They have very little starting experience at the second level of that defense this week, and they’ve already struggled against the run this year. Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell should be able to do some damage if the offensive line holds up.
