Pittsburgh Steelers OT Broderick Jones was injured in the fourth quarter of the team’s Week 12 matchup against the Chicago Bears. Jones was blocking and was leaped into by a defender and hit at a weird angle. He remained down on the field after the play while he was attended to by trainers as TE Jonnu Smith knelt next to him.
With Jones out, the Steelers will turn to Calvin Anderson at left tackle. Jones has started every game this season for the Steelers, who have for the most part had good health along the offensive line with OG Isaac Seumalo the only player who has missed a game. After a slow start to the season, Jones has improved a little bit, although his performance has still been a little bit shaky.
It appeared to be a potential head or neck injury for Jones given where he was hit on the play. Jones is the third Steelers player to leave the game with an injury, as CB Joey Porter Jr. and WR DK Metcalf also exited, although both have returned. CBS sideline reporter Evan Washburn reported it was a stinger for Jones, who headed to the locker room.
Jones was visibly upset on the sideline while making his way to the blue medical tent, as the CBS broadcast showed him slam his helmet down while walking with a trainer.
