Harry Maguire and Jack Grealish laud Callum Wilson after West Ham United brace
Wilson took to Instagram right after the game to thank the West Ham fans for their support and for making the journey to the Cherries’ home ground.
He even lauded the Bournemouth supporters for creating a good atmosphere inside the stadium.
The 33-year-old previously played for them and the fans gave him a good welcome, but certainly weren’t pleased that he scored two goals against them.
Thanking the fans on Instagram, Wilson wrote: “A point on the road. Thank you to both sets of fans for the reception, much appreciated! Safe travels home Hammers.”
MORE WEST HAM STORIES
This saw a number of his teammates, including Jarrod Bowen and Kyle Walker-Peters, congratulating him for his performance.
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire reacted with the heart eyes emoji while Everton loanee Jack Grealish also responded via emojis, applauding his display on Saturday afternoon.
England call-up on the cards for Wilson?
It would have been ridiculous to suggest Wilson potentially going to the World Cup next summer at the start of the season.
Many were baffled when the Hammers made serious moves to secure his services, especially after signing Niclas Fullkrug last summer.
However, while he has not set the world alight this term, Wilson has done a decent job, leading the goal tally for West Ham in the Premier League.
Jarrod Bowen, usually prolific in front of goal, has played more than twice the number of minutes (1080) than Wilson (420), but has only bagged three goals compared to his teammate’s four.
With Ollie Watkins struggling this season and Ivan Toney potentially not in Thomas Tuchel’s plans, there is a good chance that Wilson could be taken to the World Cup if he manages to score between 10 and 15 league goals this term and can maintain his fitness.
