Why Browns pulled Shedeur Sanders from QB on their first TD vs. Raiders

It was only the first quarter, and the [Browns](https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/cleveland-browns) were inside the 10-yard line, but Shedeur Sanders was jogging to the sideline.

The rest of Cleveland's offense was still on the field. Sanders was coming out, though.

It wasn't an injury or a benching, though.

Why did Browns pull Shedeur Sanders?

------------------------------------

Cleveland just took Sanders out for a play for gameplan purposes.

They were going with the Wildcat formation, where a running back takes the snap instead.

Some teams run that play with the QB still out wide in a receiver position. But the Browns did it with Sanders subbed out.

On the play, Quinshon Judkins ran into the end zone for a touchdown.

Sanders didn't get a chance, on this drive, to try and score a TD.

He had completed 2-of-2 passes up to this point for eight yards.

The Judkins TD was set up by a long punt return and a penalty on the [Raiders](https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/las-vegas-raiders).

The Browns will take the points, and Sanders will still get plenty more chance to make things happen in his first NFL start.
