The Kansas City Chiefs entered Week 12 needing to avoid the first three-game losing streak in a single season of Patrick Mahomes’ career. The game did not look close as Indianapolis dominated early while the Chiefs could not produce in the red zone, settling for field goals.

Daniel Jones and the Colts offense went silent in the second half as Jones was 7 for 19 with 87 passing yards in the second half/overtime. The Chiefs’ defense would begin to gain momentum and get pressure with their blitz packages. In the fourth quarter, Mahomes was able to lead the way with some solid passes and get the field down the field to score.

Running back Kareem Hunt capped off the drive with 8:37 left in regulation with a 2-yard rushing touchdown while Rashee Rice caught the two-point conversion to bring the game within three points. The defense forced a three-and-out to get the ball back and the offense methodically moved down the field to kick a field goal to tie the game and bring it to overtime.

The Colts started overtime with the ball, but could not get anything done. Kansas City marched down the field and, thanks to some big plays, were able to get into field goal position for Harrison Butker to kick the game-winning 27-yard field goal to clinch the victory.

Mahomes finishes the game completing 29 of 46 passes for 352 yards with zero touchdown passes and an interception. Rashee Rice became the first Chiefs player with at least 100 receiving yards, finishing with eight catches for 141 yards. Hunt was the team’s first 100+ yard rusher, with an unbelievable 30 rushing attempts for 104 yards and a rushing touchdown.

The Chiefs escape with the win to improve to 6-5 and have a short week as they are on the road for Thanksgiving Day against the Dallas Cowboys. They are now tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Texans for the eighth seed in the AFC, while having a game against the Texans still remaining on the schedule. It is still a tough road to climb, but the Chiefs may have found the magic to begin things.
