The New England Patriots suffered multiple injuries during their game against the Cincinnati Bengals, with team captain Brenden Schooler among the highest-profile departures on the day. The special teams ace hurt his ankle early in the contest.
Midway through the second quarter, he was announced as questionable to return to the contest. Schooler was eventually ruled out at the half alongside [starting left guard Jared Wilson](/new-england-patriots-injuries/114918/jared-wilson-injury-update-nfl-week-12-bengals).
He was later spotted wearing a walking boot on his left foot.
An undrafted free agent in 2022, Schooler is one of the best special teamers in the NFL and a mainstay for the Patriots within their kicking game operation. A regular on five units, including all four return and coverage squads, he entered Week 12 having played 229 snaps in the game’s third phase for a team-leading playing-time share of 82%,. Schooler also notched 12 tackles on the season so far.
The 28-year-old, who was voted a captain for the first time in his career earlier this year, signed a three-year, $9 million extension with the Patriots last season.
