**THE STORY:** Jonathan Gannon urged his players to get off the mat following the two recent losses.
The Cardinals (3-8) took a couple of shots against the Jaguars (7-4). While kicker Chad Ryland made the game-tying field goal with three seconds on the clock in regulation, it was Jacksonville who landed the knockout shot in the 27-24 overtime defeat Sunday at State Farm Stadium.
The Jaguars won the overtime coin toss and on a five-play drive, kicker Cam Little gave Jacksonville the three-point lead. On the Cardinals' first overtime drive, they could not convert on a fourth-and-4.
After the Cardinals capitalized on a Budda Baker interception which set up a 39-yard touchdown by Greg Dortch in the fourth quarter, Jacksonville orchestrated a six-play, 65-yard drive to recapture the lead. On the Cardinals final drive of regulation, the Cardinals put together an eight-play 64-yard drive to set up Ryland to tie the game.
The Cardinals defense flashed throughout the game. A strip-sack, forced by Jalen Thompson and recovered by Walter Nolen III for a touchdown set the tone early. It was the first of four takeaways by the Cardinals defense. Cornerback Garrett Williams and linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither each had interceptions.
Yet on two third-quarter turnovers, the Cardinals couldn't turn either into points. Quarterback Jacoby Brissett finished the game 33-of-49 for 317 yards. Michael Wilson finished the game with ten receptions for 118 yards in his second game as the top wideout.
Trey McBride continued to carve his name in the record books, tying Larry Fitzgerald for the most consecutive games with at least five catches. The 13 consecutive games also tied Tony Gonzalez for second-most by a tight end in NFL history.
