‘Shedeur Sanders should be the full time starter’: What a former Browns quarterback said after…

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders threw a touchdown pass in his first NFL start and the defense had 10 sacks in Sunday’s 24-10 win vs. the Raiders in Las Vegas.

Sanders completed 11 of 20 yards for 209 yards, a TD and an interception. Quinshon Judkins rushed for two touchdowns and Dylan Sampson also scored when he took a Sanders swing pass 66 yards for a touchdown.

Myles Garrett had three sacks on defense, breaking the franchise record for sacks in a season with six games left to play. Maliek Collins added 2.5 sacks, and three other Browns each had a full sack.

The Browns return home with a 3-8 record as they host the 49ers in Week 13.

Here is how social media reacted to the game.

“Always a great Sunday when the @Browns get a victory. Way to play @ShedeurSanders,” former Cavs center Tristan Thompson posted.

“Good for Shedeur! I said he’d be better with reps and he was. Dont care who it was against. He did what he needed to do. Manage the game by not taking deep sacks or trying to do to much. Yes he got fooled once early but that no more makes him a bad player than the deep throw to bonds makes him a great player. Dont make to much out of either play. Make the plays that are there to be made and for the most part he did. Showed poise and improvement from last week by throwing the ball away when he needed to. Wasn’t perfect but no one is and that’s not what the expectation is for him. He’s earned another week for sure,” former Browns quarterback Luke McCown posted.

“Shedeur 1st start is a win vs. My Raiders,” former Ohio State cornerback Chimdi Chekwa posted.

“Shedeur Sanders should be the full time starter for the Cleveland Browns the rest of the season,” former Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III posted.

“Shedeur Sanders should be named next week’s starter list game by Kevin Stefanski!” ESPN analyst Ryan Clark posted.

“Browns road win by a rookie QB in his first career start. The unthinkable has been achieved!!!!” Anthony Lima of 92.3 The Fan posted.

“Myles Garrett on a winning tm is a serious serious MVP candidate. He’s UNBELIEVABLE,” NFL personality Shannon Sharpe posted.

“Yep that sack record DONE!! If yall think Myles Garrett who now have 18 sacks ain’t getting 5 more in the next 7 games yall crazy. The way he playing he mess around and have 30,” former NFL defensive tackle Gerald McCoy posted.

“Say this for Shedeur Sanders—It hasn’t been too big for him, and he hasn’t gotten out over his skis. Right now, he’s 11-of-20 for 209 yards, a touchdown and a pick, with completions of 66, 52 and 39 yards. If I’m the Browns, I’d want to see more, and start him again,” Albert Breer of The MMQB posted.

“It helps that the Raiders are probably the worst team in the NFL, but this was a really good Kevin Stefanski game. The Browns did everything possible to protect Shedeur and let him pick his spots,” Ben Axelrod of Awful Announcing posted.

“Shedeur has plenty of things to clean up and the Raiders are just defeated but I don’t understand how you watch this game and want to go back to Dillon Gabriel,” BigPlay’s Matt Fontana posted.

“Yeah Myles is breaking that record,” Cory Kinnan of the Daft on Draft podcast posted.

“Shedeur has looked much more poised today , he’s demonstrated he can make some high level out of structure throws. the 1 interception was pretty bad but happens to rookies, so far you gotta be happy with what you’ve seen so far,” YouTube personality Quincy Carrier posted.

“The notes at the end of the 1st half read that the defense is Super Bowl quality. It is,” Ken Carman of 92.3 The Fan posted.

“After Shedeur completed 0 attempts vs. 9 blitzes last week, the Raiders opted to blitz on just 15% of the Browns dropbacks this week. Raiders mentally in Cabo San Lucas,” Hayden Winks of Underdog Fantasy posted.

“I’d start Shedeur Sanders next week. He brought more juice and passed the eye test. Browns first road win since Week 2 last season. Try and let Sanders build a little momentum here,” Cleveland media personality Nick Pedone posted.

“One thing that really stands out about Shedeur Sanders is that this whole game hasn’t felt too big for me. If I’m the Browns, I absolutely want to see more from him. The week of practice has really made him feel comfortable,” former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel posted.

“I can’t believe I’m saying this but I retract my previous comments. Myles Garrett is better than TJ Watt right now. He’s a man possessed. And making less money than Watt,” Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh posted.

“Did I just see that Geno Smith has been sacked TEN TIMES by the Browns?!?” ESPN’s Kimberley A. Martin posted.
