Newcastle United 2-1 Manchester City.
Tino Livramento shone on his return from injury as Newcastle United stunned Manchester City.
Tino Livramento has insisted he is ignoring the noise regarding his Newcastle United future when asked about a potential contract extension.
It is understood that a fresh deal has become a top priority for new sporting director Ross Wilson. Livramento will have two years to run on his current contract at the end of the season.
He recently spent eight weeks on the treatment table following a knee injury suffered against Arsenal in September. However, Livramento sent a reminder to everyone of his talents with a stellar performance against Manchester City.
Tino Livramento on Newcastle United future
On whether he has discussed a contract extension with Wilson - appointed last month - Livramento promised to focus on his football rather than become bogged down in negotiations. He told NewcastleWorld: “That's nothing that I'm in control of. I leave that to my dad, to my agent. For me, I've been out for seven weeks. I've been working really hard to come back and obviously help the team.
“I'm very happy with how I've played (against Man City). That's my focus, staying where I'm at now. That's always been my focus. Helping the team as much as I can.”
Livramento also paid tribute to the Toon faithful when asked if he is happy at St James’ Park. He responded: “Of course, have you not seen it out there?”
‘The turning point’ - Tino Livramento
The 23-year-old believes the win over Pep Guardiola’s men could be a “turning point” in the season. Livramento said: “I’m very happy, very happy to be back playing. It's a great result for the team, for the city.
A lot of fans have been waiting for our season to kick start and I feel like this could be the turning point. We've worked really hard.
“We had three or four really tough sessions, just working on things that the manager thought that we weren't doing in games. It definitely helped us, the international break, to fix a few things.”
