Latest news and rumours from around the Premier League including Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool
Premier League clubs have the chance to bring in new signings when the January transfer window opens up for business. Teams will get the opportunity to freshen up their ranks this winter ahead of the second half of the season. They will also be able to let some players head out the exit door as well if needed.
Arsenal lead the way at the top of the table as they look to win the title under Mikel Arteta. The Gunners are hoping that this is the year that they finally get their hands on the trophy. They face competition from the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea though.
Arsenal and Chelsea eye Nottingham Forest defender Murillo
According to CaughtOffside, Arsenal and Chelsea are showing ‘interest’ in Nottingham Forest defender Murillo. The 23-year-old is also said to be on the radar of La Liga giants Barcelona. He is under contract at the City Ground until June 2029 meaning his current club are under no pressure to sell him anytime soon and they can afford to wait for the right amount of money.
Murillo, who has made one cap for the Brazil national team, rose up through the academy at Corinthians. The Sao Paulo-born man moved over to England in 2023 and has since become a key player for Forest. He has made 87 appearances in all competitions and has scored three goals from the back.
The 3AM Verdict: Nottingham Forest are likely to face a battle to keep hold of Murillo down the line amid expected attention from elsewhere. He would be a useful signing for either Arsenal or Chelsea if they managed to snap him up. The centre-back would give both of the London pair another option to pick from in defence and offer them something different to what they currently have at their disposal.
Liverpool dealt Marc Guehi transfer blow
Liverpool target Marc Guehi is willing to stay at Crystal Palace until the end of this campaign, as per reporter Alan Nixon on his Patreon page. The centre-back is out of contract at the end of this term. He is due to become a free agent in June 2026 as things stand.
Guehi, 25, is a key player for both the Eagles and the England national team. He progressed through the ranks at Chelsea and was a regular at various different youth levels before going on to play twice for their first-team as a youngster. He then made the switch to Selhurst Park in 2021 after a couple of loan spells at Swansea City to get some experience under his belt and he hasn’t looked back since.
The 3AM Verdict: Liverpool may have to wait until the summer if they are to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace. He would be a useful addition for the Reds if they managed to lure him to Anfield in the future. The centre-back is a proven performer at the top level and would be ideal competition for the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.
