Opinion: Pedro Neto's brilliant Chelsea form will see him achieve something for the first time in his career

After Moises Caicedo, Pedro Neto has been Chelsea’s best player this season.

Neto managed to get his name on the scoresheet again over the weekend, netting in Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Burnley.

Following the full-time whistle, Neto was quick to praise Andrey Santos, which is understandable. His teammate put in a top performance.

Who was your player of the match vs Burnley?

However, the 25-year-old also put in a fine display and is now on course to have his best season as a professional.

Pedro Neto on course to score 10+ goals

Neto’s goal at Turf Moor on Saturday was his fourth in the Premier League this season. It means that he has already matched his tally from the 2024/25 campaign.

With 26 games left in the English top flight alone, Neto should easily finish the season with 10 goals or more to his name.

He has never reached double figures in his career, so it would be a big achievement if the winger managed to do that this term.

Another wide man, such as Antoine Semenyo, would perhaps be an upgrade on Neto because of the Portuguese’s underwhelming goal record.

But Neto works tirelessly on the flank. He is the kind of winger managers love because of his defensive work rate.

Pedro Neto’s highest goalscoring season

Neto’s best goalscoring tally in a single campaign actually came at Chelsea last term. In total, the Portugal international scored nine goals in 51 appearances across all competitions.

Again, given that Neto has already netted four times this season, he should surpass that tally. Anything lower than 10 would be a disappointment.

Who is Chelsea’s best winger?

Neto can do it, as long as the former Wolverhampton Wanderers star keeps his place in Enzo Maresca’s side.

Estevao Willian is really pushing him for a spot right now, but Neto has accepted that challenge and is performing well for Chelsea.

Many Chelsea fans would rather see Estevao start; however, a goal against Barcelona on Tuesday could earn Neto more supporters.
