Chelsea will take on Barcelona in the Champions League at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
It’s unclear whether Barcelona midfielder Pedri will be available to face Chelsea.
That’s according to Monday’s edition of Marca, who report there’s ‘serious doubt’ over the 22-year-old’s availability for the European clash.
The Spain international suffered a hamstring injury towards the end of October and hasn’t returned to action since then.
Marca report the midfielder didn’t train with the squad on Sunday, a day after Barcelona sealed a 4-0 win over Athletic Club Bilbao.
Marcus Rashford missed the win over Athletic due to illness. The newspaper states the Manchester United owned player returned to training yesterday.
Monday’s edition of Sport also reports Rashford trained with the squad on Sunday.
Barca left-back Alejandro Balde was substituted against the Basque club after suffering a blow to his head. There were doubts over his involvement to face Chelsea but that’s been dispelled after he trained yesterday.
According to the Catalan newspaper, Pedri, in principle, is unlikely to travel to London today. It’s claimed he’s ‘still not at 100%’ to be in contention for the Chelsea clash.
Despite the importance of the Champions League clash, Hansi Flick and his coaching staff believe it’s not worth risking Pedri.
Chelsea have seven points after four matches and are 12th in the table, level on points with 11th placed Barcelona.
