Exclusive: How Michael Edwards privately feels about sacking Arne Slot as Liverpool enter crisis mode

Exclusive with Graeme Bailey.

FSG have no plans to relieve Arne Slot of his duties at Liverpool despite a terrible run of Premier League form, sources have told Rousing The Kop .

Slot’s position has come into question over recent weeks, with outside noise intensifying after Saturday’s 3-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest.

However, RTK have been told that the Liverpool owners are deferring to CEO of football Michael Edwards and sporting director Richard Hughes on the matter.

Edwards and Hughes led the decision to hire Slot, and it is understood that their belief in the Dutchman remains unwavering.

While there is clearly concern over the team’s current form, there is an internal belief that Liverpool are far better than what they are showing.

This feeling is understood to be total throughout the club and while Slot cannot continue to lose ad infinitum, he will be given time to turn things around.

Arne Slot retains belief of key figures at Liverpool

Liverpool do not often change their manager unless they feel it is absolutely necessary to do so.

And although other clubs may have already sacked Slot in his current run of form, the Reds are instead understood to be putting their focus into changing results, rather than the man in the dugout.

As transfer insider Graeme Bailey exclusively tells RTK, there will be no knee-jerk reaction from those in charge at Anfield.

“FSG are fully behind Arne Slot but they are also fully guided by Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes – they make the footballing decisions,” says Bailey.

“Arne Slot is an Edwards and Hughes guy, whilst not untouchable – who is in football – he has a huge amount of credit in the bank, they believe in him, they believe he is still the man for Liverpool and fully believe he will put this right.

“Everyone at the club insist that at this moment their full focus is on putting things right. They know they are better than what they are showing.”

Slot likely to be given full season to turn things around

Although fans may be getting restless after seeing their team slip to 11th in the table, RTK have been told not to expect a change in head coach this season.

The Reds are confident that results will turn around for them given the quality at Slot’s disposal, but even if that does not happen, a sacking would be a last resort.

Instead, it is understood that Liverpool are likely to keep the Premier League-winning manager in charge even if they do drop into the bottom half more permanently.

Should that happen, Slot’s position would then be evaluated come the end of the campaign.

For now, full faith is being placed in the former Feyenoord boss with Liverpool chiefs still expecting him to have a long and successful career in charge.
