Newcastle United 2-1 Manchester City.
Tino Livramento was wearing heavy strapping on his left leg while speaking to the media but he assured NewcastleWorld of his fitness.
Tino Livramento has promised he is “alright” after being spotted in heavy bandaging following Newcastle United’s win over Manchester City.
Toon fans were left in disbelief at how well the defender slotted into Premier League action following an eight-week lay-off. Livramento returned from a knee injury suffered against Arsenal on September 28, impressing as Newcastle stunned Pep Guardiola’s men.
Eddie Howe named the 23-year-old and his dance partner - Lewis Hall - in the starting line-up at the weekend. His faith was repaid tenfold, with both helping Newcastle transform their approach defensively and offensively.
Tino Livramento bandaged up
Livramento was spotted looking tender in the mixed zone with heavy strapping on his left leg after the win. However, the Toon ace assured NewcastleWorld that the bandaging was merely precautionary.
“No, I'm alright,” Livramento said. “It's just football coming back. I'm fine, I'm going to rest and recover and go again. It's not nice (sitting on the sidelines). But for me, I played a lot of football last season. I went away with the under-21s as well and came back after just two weeks of holiday.
“I played a lot at the start of the season as well so almost having that time out helped a little bit to rest my body and recover and work on things that I didn't have the time to in the off-season. Now I feel like I'm in a good place to rest and recover.”
‘The turning point’ - Tino Livramento
The 23-year-old believes the win over Pep Guardiola’s men could be a “turning point” in the season. Livramento said: “I’m very happy, very happy to be back playing. It's a great result for the team, for the city.
A lot of fans have been waiting for our season to kick start and I feel like this could be the turning point. We've worked really hard.
“We had three or four really tough sessions, just working on things that the manager thought that we weren't doing in games. It definitely helped us, the international break, to fix a few things.”
