Star man and international ace out for Leeds United's next hosts Manchester City as Pep…

Leeds United 1 Aston Villa 2: Lee Sobot's YEP video verdict

Leeds United’s next Premier League games takes them to Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola has provided fresh Manchester City team news ahead of Saturday’s Leeds United visit and midweek Champions League tie - ahead of which two stars remain out.

Ballon d’or winner Rodri has not started a game since suffering a hamstring injury in October’s 1-0 win at Brentford in which the midfielder was taken off after 22 minutes.

After missing the Premier League clashes against Everton and Aston Villa, Rodri then bagged one minute from the bench in the 3-1 win at home to Bournemouth at the start of the month but the 29-year-old has not featured since.

Ahead of a busy week for City which features a Tuesday night Champions League visit of Borussia Dortmund before Saturday’s hosting of Leeds, Rodri remains sidelined along with fellow midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

“When he is back we will wait a little, little bit more”

Croatian international midfielder Kovacic has played just four minutes of football so far this season and is now recovering from ankle surgery.

Speaking at Monday’s pre-Borussia Dortmund press conference, Guardiola was asked about Rodri and Kovacic and confirmed that neither were yet ready.

“Not for tomorrow,” said Guardiola, asked about Rodri.

Asked then about Kovacic, he added: “Not for tomorrow. Everybody else for tomorrow.”

Asked whether he had a time when he expected Rodri back, Guardiola said: “Not long, not sure but not long. He is in the process of the timing that he will be back and when he is back we will wait a little, little bit more to be sure that he is fine.”
